We started this grand day out by close-reading an article that describes reasons why we should and shouldn't have Minecraft in the classroom! We found and annotated reasons & examples from both perspectives int he article and then....
We gave our own opinion/claim, referring back to the text for evidence, and writing an example/explanation that connects the evidence to our opinion!
After our Reading and Writer's Workshop session, we moved onto math and discussed the distributive property (a.k.a decomposing) to solve for the area of rectangular spaces/shapes:

Coming back from recess, we continued with math and applied the distributive property to solve for the area of irregular plane shapes/spaces!
After lunch, we read a bit of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and noticed & noted any signposts!
Near the end of the day, we worked on sportsmanship and social skills during PE!
Cheers, y'all!
