First Day Awesomeness!

Howdy Folks!

Today was a good one as we focused on routines and procedures in E-8!

Routines and procedures we discussed as a class today:

  • Entering the classroom in the morning
  • Coming to the Carpet
  • Coming to a desk
  • Active listening
  • Getting in line
  • Attention getting signals
  • How to act as an audience
  • How to Turn & Talk (for collaboration)

We also discussed expectations on the playground and in the cafeteria!

Before lunch, we discussed the Me Bags for homework, and I modeled for the class what should go in the bag! During this time, we also focused on the Jot Dot strategy, which can be utilized for note-taking or for presentations! Essentially, each jot dot is on a specific topic, and has a maximum of five words/phrases which helps trigger or bring up information from one's noggin!

I modeled for students how I used a jot dot to help me remember what to say
when presenting my passion for sneakers. These words might might look
random, but they help ME! Students utilized the turn & talk procedure
to assist me in finding 5 keywords/phrases that will help me remember
what I need to say when presenting my Pokemon card!
I'm not expecting students to utilized or fully understand this note-taking strategy just yet, but it's  a good start!

We've also been listening to parts of Boy: Tales of Childhood, by Roald Dahl; ask them about the Great Mouse Plot that happened in the autobiography!

I think that about does it! Cheers, and have a good one y'all!
