During our class meeting this morning, we discussed the routine of Think Time, and going over how to Turn & Talk!
| Turn & Talk position! |
We proceeded to do a book walk of Ballad of Mulan, making sure that we look carefully at each illustration, and pulling out some detail from that illustration to make meaningful connections!
We also talked about close reading, and how we will use the skill of close reading in all facets of life!
During Writer's Workshop today, we talked about the Do's and Don'ts of 3rd Grade Notebook Writers, and we wrote out some goals we want to accomplish this year as writers!
We've also have been orally listening to small moments that have happened to various folks! Oral storytelling is a jumping pad for written storytelling, and the students love to listen to stories dealing with encounters with skunks, or having to remove a boil, or getting hit with a hockey puck while on the ice, or playing a prank on a sibling's fiancee! Ask your child if he/she listened to any interesting stories today! I'm sure you be hearing a few of them!
For math today, we went over what decomposing was, and practiced decomposing a couple of numbers. Decomposing is essentially the process of breaking numbers up into smaller components. Eventually we will use decomposing to tackle a number of mathematical operations! Ask your child what decomposing is all about!
We shared a couple more Me Bags today and added to our Jot Dots for Me Bags chart!
And that a wrap for today folks! Cheers, and have a good one!
