We started the day out with Writer's Workshop! We focused again on leads, but this time, we started our leads with -ing words in order to get the reader's attention and persuade him/her to keep on reading!
We then used the turn and talk strategy to read out what we wrote to a teammate!
After Writer's Workshop, we jumped straight into Reading Block! During this time we fine-tuned our annotating skills by locating important information in the text that will help us in answering text-dependent questions! We also made sure to write in complete sentences, as we also are working on how to write professionally!
| Annotating like a boss! |
While others were working on answering text-dependent questions, a few of us worked on our decoding skills along with this reading comprehension skills!
When we completed those text-dependent questions with our partner, we then jumped into Lexia and worked on additional reading/language arts skills such as understanding idioms, combining prefixes with root words, or utilizing our knowledge of spelling patterns to spell words! A few of us completed Lexia levels today, and one teammate completed the entire Lexia program during this session! Yeah, buddy!
| Working smart, not hard! |
During a read aloud today we discussed how we needed to have a professional-like explanation/warrant to our reasons when make a claim, such as when we say what our favorite part of the text is!
Coming back from lunch we talked about tonight's math HW, and then bunch of us Read to Self, while a few of us wanted to review rounding to the tens!
And that's a wrap up folks! Cheers, and have a good one!
