During Class Meeting today we discussed what a "Mature Class" looks and sounds like! As a teacher, I like to have fun in class. However, I can only do that if the class is mature enough to sense the right time and place for humor/silliness. One student shared out that a mature class knows when to work and when to have fun. I also added that a mature class is a class that can stop acting silly and get back to work when the teacher requests it! It's all about rationale and expectations!
During Computer block today, we supported ourselves by starting on the task right away, and putting in our best effort! The task you might ask? It was to do a first read an article on the Achieve 3000 program in order to get the "gist" or good understanding of the article! We then did a close read! The purpose of this close read? To find answers to text-dependent questions dealing with main idea & details, cause & effect, predictions & inferences, etc.
For Reading block today, with a partner, we focused on using text codes to annotate important information! We needed to find and locate important information within the text today in order to answer this prompt: Describe the living things in the chaparral biome.
| Annotating important info like a boss! Notice the written notes that explains the thinking when reading! Yeah buddy! |
Collaborating during math today, we solved for the perimeter of planes shapes, by utilizing our understanding of attributes of those plane shapes, as well as remembering to label any missing sides!
| Explaining one's thinking by showing the process to get to the answer! Yeah buddy! |
We also did a round of skip counting today, and discussed how skip counting, repeated addition, and multiplication are one and the same!
We shared a Me Bag today!
Near the end of the day, we did a quick exercise dealing with the short /e/ sound, and then we had PE!
Cheers y'all!
