During reading block today, we got together in collaborative groups in order to read a few non-fiction articles on Achieve 3000, and then proceeded to refer back to the text (close read) in order to locate important information to text-dependent questions! In these groups, we discussed details and the big idea of the articles, as well as support one another when there were any misunderstandings and/or challenges!
We then hopped onto Writer's Workshop; during Writer's Workshop I created a small moment with the students by eating several freeze-dried insects. Needless to say, the spectacle was chock full of "ewwws" and "grrroooosss," but made for excellent narrative writing using a storyteller's voice!
| Excellent notes! |
During math block, we got again got into collaborative groups, and utilized Learnzillion to discuss patterns we see on a 100s chart!
For a read aloud today, we delved into a wordless book called Journey and either wrote about a favorite part in the story and why it was our favorite part, or we wrote about a connection we made while listening to the story!
And then we partook in Pokemon Friday!
And that's a wrap-up folks! Cheers, and have an excellent weekend!
