Sketch and Label!

Happy Friday Folks!

We started the day out focusing on the sketch and label strategy! This strategy helps us clarify, synthesize, and summarize non-fiction texts! We first read a text or article the whole way through to get a good understanding, and then we close read again, but this time in smaller manageable sections. We do this in order to sketch and label those sections! We orally summarized the text based on our sketches, and then we transferred what we orally summarized into writing! When we summarize in written form, we base it off of the sketches and our oral summaries, in order to prevent plagiarism! Booyah!

We then grabbed our laptops and continued to work on, in collaborative groups, strategies to close read,  analyze, and comprehend non-fiction texts via Achieve 3000! We made sure we referred back to the text as a basis for our answer when responding  to any questions dealing with what we read!

For math we utilized the Read, Close-read, Draw, Write strategy to work on word problems dealing with fraction sets!

When we listened to The BFG being read aloud today, we were also making connections to the story!!

We had Pokemon Friday Today!

And here's a preview for an upcoming presentation:

Cheers, y'all!
